Hahahahah…That title is funny because I think it’s actually impossible to stay there, in that state of contentment that we are all looking for.  Feeling it when we are in a state of contentment, on the other hand, is a fantastic and sometimes a little euphoric. Do you even  recognise it when it happens to you?

I have been doing so much work on myself lately with courses and reading books that I’m a little on overload but mostly feeling content. I think it’s a life process and not something to quit looking for.

It really and truly has nothing to do with anyone else.  It’s an inside job!! How you work things out in your life in your mind and body, (yes, it’s all one complete and complicated working unit) you will be bound to find a more constant state of contentment. There are tips and tricks to anything and just finding what works for you is the key.  Here, I will offer a few of the things that work for me as well a some things I am still in pursuit of.

  1. Prioritise time with good friends.  There are very strong links between physical and mental health. The release of the natural feel good chemicals that happen when we are in the company of good friends, those friends that make us laugh and love us for being exactly who we are, are as important in our life as not smoking and a good diet for having a long life.
  2. The right to enjoy a meaningful and purposeful life.  We should be careful about focusing on just purpose. It’s not the hidden treasure of what happens for you, but what happens for others when you do what you do.  This is why I love coaching and helping friends when they need a friend, for whatever reason.  A talk, a walk or unpack moving boxes.
  3. Live an “Examined Life” built around a Core Value system.  This is a big self discovery for so many of us.  Especially those of us that have lived a good portion of our lives doing for others and not really getting to know ourselves.  A good place to start is to pay attention to the things that are said or done that steal your peace.  The Peace stealers are things that do just that.  Pay attention to what triggers you have.  The triggers will help you discover what and where your core values are.  Mine are when people lie to me and don’t value my time, just to name a couple of them without going too deep.  I am still examining!

Recently I signed up for the Sadhguru Inner Engineering course.  This coming weekend is the final 2 days of fully immersive training.  This is yoga for the mind, body and spirit at it’s finest.  I am very much looking forward to learning more and being on this path to maintain contentment more often in my life.  I am also hoping I can help others find it too.  Stay Tuned.
